Commander Dana Levine is a law enforcement veteran with over 32 years of experience. He currently oversees the Operations Division of the Miami Gardens Police Department. Commander Levine joined the Department in 2007 as one of the Department's original 150 members.
Before his tenure in Miami Gardens, he served as a police officer in Philadelphia, where he held various positions. He served in the Tactical Unit; he was a narcotics investigator for the Bureau of Narcotics Investigations Taskforce, Section-8 Fraud Detective, Burglary Detective, and Criminal Investigations Detective.
While in Miami Gardens, Commander Levine taught in the Miami-Dade Public School System by teaching the Gang Resistance and Education and Training Program (GREAT). He was also the lead advisor for the Miami Gardens Police Explorers Program. He was a Violent Crimes Detective, Field Training Officer, Field Training Supervisor, Community Action Team Supervisor, Motors/Traffic Supervisor, Award Committee member, and Traffic Crash Review Board Chair.
Commander Levine earned a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Homeland Security (Magna Cum Laude) from Tiffin University, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice (Magna Cum Laude) from Saint Leo University. He graduated from the 90th Southern Police Institute's Command Officer Development Course, FBI LEEDA, and the Florida Leadership Academy. Additionally, he is an active member of organizations such as the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLES), the Miami-Dade County Chief of Police Association, the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Program, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Greater Miami Graduate Chapter of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship INC..
