Captain Machurick is veteran of the U.S. Air Force and has over 37 years of experience in law enforcement, retiring from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department September 2007. Since September 2007, Captain Machurick has been employed with the Miami Gardens Police Department.

During his law enforcement career, he has served as a K-9 handler and K-9 Unit Sergeant, Marine Patrol Sergeant and a Street Crimes Unit Sergeant. He has also served as a SWAT Team member, Sniper and as a SWAT Team Commander. Captain Machurick is also a certified Motorcycle Officer.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. His areas of certified instructional expertise include Active Shooter, Sudden Custody Death, Hobble Restraint, TASER Master Instructor, K9, Field Force, Use of Force Simulator, RADAR/LASER, EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations), Rapid Response, and with various firearms. Captain Machurick is a member of Miami-Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police and the Florida Police Chiefs Association.
