Purpose & Overview
The Records Unit is responsible for the processing, storage, retrieval and effective management of police reports. The public can obtain reports from the Records Unit Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 am– 4:00 pm. The Unit is closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
- The public may obtain certain incident reports online by visiting the Police to Citizens website and searching for specific information.
- Copies of all police reports and documents open to public access are available from the Records Section. The public can obtain reports from the Records Unit located at 18611 NW 27th Ave, Miami Gardens, Florida 33056.
- Accident Reports - Available 7-10 business days after date of occurrence to the driver, passenger, property owner, representative or owner of vehicle (providing proof). Accident reports are public records sixty (60) days after occurrence. Certified copies of accident reports can be obtained at a cost of $1.00 per page and non-certified copies at a cost of $.15 per page.
- Incident Reports - Available 7-10 business days from the time the report is written. In the event the report is being investigated the obtainability may be delayed. Certified copies of public reports can be obtained at a cost of $1.00 per page and non-certified copies at a cost of $.15 per page. However, extensive research may result in additional charges.
