Many of our projects can be seen by simply driving through the city: new playgrounds at Rolling Oaks and Bunche Parks, sports lighting at Norwood Park & Pool, Myrtle Grove and Rolling Oaks Parks, and the construction of the city police department to name a few.
Miami Gardens Community Center: Construction is underway at the Miami Gardens Community Center, located at 3000 NW 199 Street (just 2 blocks west of the Dolphin Stadium). Over the next approximately 14 months, the once vacant land is the future home of the 54,000 sq. ft. community center. The community center will be equipped with an indoor basketball court, swimming pool, dance studio, fitness gym and men/women locker rooms. Additionally, a state-of-the-art football/soccer field with running track will be located on the site, just east of the community center. Anticipated completion date in June 2009.
Rolling Oaks Park: The renovation of Rolling Oaks Park is one of the City’s greatest endeavors. It involves the transformation of this heavily wooded park space into interactive recreational green space. More 2,000 pine trees provide an excellent backdrop to the new football/soccer fields, 3,000 sq. ft. concession stand, 4 new, lighted tennis courts, 4 refurbished basketball courts and new playground design by Kompan Playgrounds, Inc. Construction has begun on several elements of the park.
Bunche Park & Pool: This park has been a long standing neighborhood park for several decades with little improvements made. Several improvements have begun this year including a playground and rubberized surfacing. New parking is currently being constructed along the swale of the park. Sports lighting and new bleachers were also added along the football field.
