Councilmember
Council Members are elected by the voters to serve on the City Council.
Four are elected from their geographic districts and two are elected Citywide. Council
Members participate as equal members of the City Council in deliberating City business
and setting policy.

Bio
of Councilmember Andre L. Williams, Seat 3
André L. Williams is a real estate attorney and has practiced law in Miami-Dade
County, Florida since 1993. Prior to owning and operating his own law firm, he worked
in the corporate department of Holland and Knight, one of the largest law firms
in the country. He is also the principal of Pendragon Investment Group, Inc., a
real estate investment and management company that oversees a residential and commercial
real estate and business portfolio with over a million dollars in assets. He also
recently opened a Liberty Tax franchise in Miami Gardens with 20 employees, providing
income tax preparation services.
André received the South Florida Business Journal’s Up and Comers Award (Finalist)
for 2006. He was also featured as a “Leader 2000” by the Daily Business Review and
participated in a Kellogg Foundation-sponsored fellowship in 2001, the Miami Fellows
Initiative, which develops emerging leaders in Miami-Dade County.
André is President of the Miami Gardens Junior Chamber of Commerce (the “Jaycees”)
that has its own early childhood reading program with Head Start, and manages a
micro-business institute that trains young entrepreneurs and provides them with
micro-business loans after completion of the program. Under his tenure the Miami
Gardens Jaycees has also hosted workshops for local homeowners’ groups on homeownership
and building wealth through leveraging of their real estate assets.
André is a member of Mount Hermon AME Church in Miami Gardens
and the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. André is a graduate of Harvard University
where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and American Literature.
He received his law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law. He was elected
the City Council in November 2006.
